Here is a video clip that advertises a 'reality' TV show created in order to spark arguments and discussinos on abortion. The options presented in the clip are to be either pro-choice or pro life. The issue of whether a person is 'pro-life' or 'pro-choice' is an either/or fallacy because anyone can be considered both pro-life and pro-choice. if you this of it this way, anyone can technically say that he/she is pro-life because obviously people on earth are alive; everyday people work, eat, socialize, live life. In this isntance, we can say that all people enjoy life and living, therefore they must be pro-life. However, American citizens can also call themselves pro-choice. The United States prides itself on having freedom of speech for all and thus freedom of choice, as stated in the First Amendment. Therefore, technically, all Americans are pro-choice. All other aspects aside, religion and what not, anyone can be both pro-life and pro-choice. Thus, the issue is an either-or fallacy because it dows not address the other option of agreeing with both sides of the argument. No alternative, middle-ground, or compromise positions are acknowledged.
